Eat whole or sliced as a snack, make a simple jam, roast to top your yogurt or waffles, use in a glaze for chicken or a sauce for pork, or pack into a pie. Yum!
Fortune plums have a red-purple skin and yellow flesh, are relatively firm, and are sweet and flavorful.
Prune plums are better known in their dried incarnation, but they're delicious baked into a crisp or cake, poached, with pork chops, or canned in their juices. They're a deep purple on the outside and yellow inside.
Most of the tart flavor is in the skin, so eat skin-on for more sweet-tart, or remove for pure sweetness.
